In fact, in a previous job, I used to order Broadcast TV camera lenses from them! Small world, they say. Our customers in today’s case study bought a ‘new build’ around 8 years ago, in the Redhill area of Surrey. Inside, these properties are very spacious, and the rear elevations have got multiple Velux windows, L shaped lounges, very light and open. For this case study, we find ourselves in Oxted, Surrey. We like Oxted, because it is a lovely, virtually unspoilt town (if you exclude Morrisons) full of coffee shops and yummy mummies. I suppose it is similar to Sevenoaks with all the good bits squeezed into a smaller area. It is also very close to Hot Water & Central Heating Ltd HQ, so we get a lot of projects there. Today we are in a rural property in the Edenbridge/Tonbridge area of Kent. Our customer has recently moved back to the UK from working abroad. We work on some interesting houses in our job, and this was one of them. Hidden away in a rural location near Tunbridge Wells, in around 1906 this house was erected in the grounds of Greystoke House, home of the Earl of Tankerville. The house had first caught the attention of the Marquess of Tankerville whilst on holiday in Norway, so, naturally, it was disassembled and brought over to Great Britain. The focus of our case study is a listed building in Westerham, Kent, which was once the residence of William Pitt the younger. Westerham is a small town steeped in history, and features Chartwell, home of Winston Churchill, Downe House, home to Charles Darwin, and Squerryes Court. Complex house heating system of the future (in 1998) gets updated
For this case study, we are in Ealing, West London. Our customer rang us to say he had inadvertently bought a large house with a woefully complex heating system around 8 years ago. Listed building with warm air heating, new iron rads and Evohome zoning
Our customer in South London owned a Grade II listed building. It had been extended over the years but still retained many original features. Interestingly from a heating perspective, it had warm air on the ground floor, and no heating on the 1st and 2nd floors, just a couple of towel rails. The warm air was provided by a downflow Lennox open flue unit, and the hot water and towel rails by an Ideal Classic wall hung boiler.
