Warm Air out, new radiator system in

The house, located in leafy Caterham, Surrey, was built in the early 60s and was heated by a warm air ducted system.  In common with many installations of this period, some rooms had no direct ducting and relied on leaving the doors open.    Our customer wished to use the large cupboard currently occupied by the warm air system for storage.  They also wanted a mains pressure delivery of hot and cold water, and minimum wastful stored hot water. We suggested the new Worcester Bosch Highflow 440CDi.  This is a floor mounted unit, recently updated from the Highflow 440.  With […]

Replacement water system in cellar for multi bathroom residence

ºOur customer has a large 3 storey Victorian detached property in Dulwich. In common with many houses in this area, an old gravity fed hot and cold water system using loft tanks was employed.  Our customer wished to gradually update his house to new mains pressure fed bathrooms, using European high pressure taps, and wisely didn’t fancy the prospect of shower pumps. He also wanted to make use of the loft space currently occupied by the large water tanks, and remove the old copper hot water storage cylinder on the 1st floor to make room for another shower. Our brief was […]

Heritage Cooker, Vaillant 937 combi and underfloor heating

Our client has a woodworking business and was constructing an imaginative barn type conversion for their property, with lots of oak beams in an unusual semi circular design. Firstly, we installed a Heritage Cooker in the existing kitchen.  Fitted with brass trim and a Jade Green enamelled finish, it was also specified with body colour hotplate covers. This particular Heritage Cooker was a gas fired unit, most of the Heritages we fit are oil fired in very rural locations. In common with all 3 oven Heritage units, the control panel concealed behind the upper left hand door enables the unit […]

Our client has bought a 1960s house in the well regarded village of Woldingham, Surrey, and embarked on a major remodelling of all services and interiors. We have assisted our customer in the selection of the heating system, but they have also contributed much to the specification, including the innovative Jaga Strada ‘low H20’ high efficiency radiators. HWCH will be fitting a large underfloor heating grid on the ground floor, a 46Kw Viessmann 200 series light commercial boiler, accumulator boosted DualStream hot and cold water system, all controlled […]

Water pressure system in Bletchingley

This job was in a large house which had two open flued water heaters on the 1st floor providing hot water to the bathrooms. Our customer wanted the old gas appliances removed for safety reasons, and also desired a mains pressure system to feed his new baths and showers, instead of the noisy and unreliable pumped system. We recommended a DualStream accumulator fed unvented system.  The accumulator (which boosts the available water flow rate in the house) was fitted in one airing cupboard, and a 300 litre unvented cylinder was fitted in the other. The accumulator fed system discharges water […]

New Build in Purley.

Our client, Farnrise Construction, were building a new 5 bedroom house in Coulsdon. HWCH specified and installed a full ground floor underfloor heating system, Vaillant 624 system boiler and a manifolded upstairs radiator system.  This allowed the radiators to be fed by seamless pipework, making leaks under the beam and block floor almost impossible. Each floor will be independently controlled as well as each separate underfloor zone.  Hot water will be provided by a Vaillant uniSTOR unvented cylinder. The property will be completed in late 2008.

Warm air installation in Bookham

Our customer had an old warm air unit using an open flue system. Warm air is amongst the most efficient methods of heating a space, and most homeowners with a warm air system would not have anything else, especially radiators!  Warm air was very popular from the 1950s to the late 1980s in the UK, with over a million installed at one point. However, they have gone out of fashion now and new units are only installed as replacements, which brings us to our customer in Bookham, near Leatherhead, Surrey. The old unit used to use a conventional flue, that […]

Vaillant boiler kills bills in East Croydon

Our customer had a large detached house in East Croydon, Surrey. Their existing boiler (an old Ideal Mexico open flued unit) was located in a cupboard in one of the reception rooms, taking up lots of room and making the roof uncomfortably warm in the summer. As far as our customer was concerned, there was only one place for his new boiler, and that was the roof space. We constructed a vertical platform for the boiler and control equipment, and as per company policy we used the services of our roofing subcontractor to pass the Vaillant flue through the roof […]

3 bathrooms from a Combination boiler in Oxted, Surrey!

Our client had a delightful detached house in a secluded road in Oxted, Surrey. The house had been extended into the loft, and had ended up with three luxury bathrooms.  Unfortunately, the hot water storage cylinder was jammed under the stairs and was too small.  And there were three separate shower pumps (each installed by plumbers with every new bathroom). The shower pumps were noisy, one was a negative head type (so it suffered from running for short periods in the middle of the night), the hot water cylinder could not be sited anywhere else, and the water tanks took […]

Vaillant unvented cylinder in wandsworth

Our customer had a newly refurbished Victorian terraced house in a rather upmarket area of Wandsworth, SE London. Their newly configured bathrooms were let down by the shower pumps.  Noisy, vibrationary and liable to intermittently start in the middle of the night. Because the property had been extended into the loft, one of the shower pumps was a ‘negative pressure’ type.  These have to push water out of the tanks uphill, because in most loft extensions there is insufficient space or load bearing ability to site water tanks above shower rose level.  The negative head pump incorporates a set of […]

Commercial plumbing

A small to medium sized company capable of installing & maintaining a highly technical modernisation of our heating & h/w systems. The planning, execution & result was truly ‘excellent’.

A J, Surrey 04/04/2017

Very knowledgeable

We needed a replacement boiler & Simon talked us through the options, which manufacturer & what size to go for & saw through the installation, not leaving until he was satisfied that all was in order. All in all very, competent and professional.

Stephen, Kent 16/02/2017

Highly recommended

Not the cheapest but very knowledgeable which gave me confidence that the job would be well done and correctly done. I was not disappointed.

Good standard of work with an ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction

This firm installed a 12 zone Honeywell Evohome central heating and hot water control system for us in October 2014. The quotation was clear and detailed, and the price reasonable. The installation work was personally overseen by the boss, Simon, who also set the rather complex (but powerful) wireless control system to work and gave clear advice on how to get the best from it. He had in-depth knowledge and experience of the control system that is probably second to none. The firm also installed and connected to our boiler a plinth fan heater nicely hidden under a kitchen cupboard Read more…

Great technical solution to the tricky replacement of a 1980’s warm air unit. Starting with a clear and comprehensive quotation. Careful and tidy installation with minimal disruption. Excellent communication throughout the work.

Clean + tidy

HWCH installed our boiler a few years ago and have looked after it ever since so I was happy to leave them in the house unaccompanied. We came home to find the installation complete and no mess or trace they had been.

Bryan, London 15/12/2015

Prompt and efficient. Very professional.

My son recommended this firm as I was very apprehensive about having a new boiler. Mr Davies was very clean and helpful and explained everything. The two men who did must of the work were efficient, polite , clean and considerate to me . As far as I can tell I have an efficient job carried out in one long day which helped me.

Diligent & Efficient

Simon of HWCH takes his job very seriously but is a pleasure to deal with. He assessed our (complicated) situation carefully, recommended the right solution and carried it out promptly and efficiently.

Jay, London 15/01/2015

Expert & professional installation

An intimate knowledge of a rather complex Honeywell Evohome heating control product, combined with an excellent installation crew on the day resulted in a very satisfactory installation. Some tricky rerouting of underfloor pipework was accomplished without fuss, mess or extra charge, highly recommended.

Richard, East Sussex 04/07/2014

Very impressed

Very impressed with work rate and efficiency. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.
