Replacement water system in cellar for multi bathroom residence
ºOur customer has a large 3 storey Victorian detached property in Dulwich. In common with many houses in this area, an old gravity fed hot and cold water system using loft tanks was employed. Our customer wished to gradually update his house to new mains pressure fed bathrooms, using European high pressure taps, and wisely didn’t fancy the prospect of shower pumps. He also wanted to make use of the loft space currently occupied by the large water tanks, and remove the old copper hot water storage cylinder on the 1st floor to make room for another shower. Our brief was […]
New Vaillant 6 series system boiler in loft, Nutfield
Our client, an independent church ministry, occupy a building in the Nutfield region of Surrey, near Redhill. Their original boiler was a Potterton Suprima, a model which enjoyed high sales between approximately 1995 and 2004. Unfortunately, it also featured regularly on BBC’s Watchdog programme, due to some alleged design defects which result in the circuit boards needing frequent replacement. This unit failed for a diffferent reason. The Suprima can have a long flue run, if the optional Potterton twin pipe system is employed. Our customer had such an installation, running from the airing cupboard mounted boiler, through a large loft space, […]
Vaillant boiler in Tadworth, Surrey
HWCH’s customer had a rather ugly old boiler mounted in a cupboard in the kitchen. This unit had to go, as a refurbishment was imminent. We recommended fitting a Vaillant boiler in the utility room. The Vaillant 428 is a small open vented boiler which is designed especially for the UK market, where we often have a small radiator tank in the loft. The boiler flue from a modern high efficiency unit discharges plume, a condensation laden steam effect rather like an old train. Building Regulations and good neighbour relations mean that we have to be mindful in which direction this discharges. […]
Major refurbishment in Woldingham, Surrey
Our client has bought a 1960s house in the well regarded village of Woldingham, Surrey, and embarked on a major remodelling of all services and interiors. When finished, the building will incorporate a modern kitchen, and comprehensively remodelled interiors. We have assisted our customer in the selection of the heating system, but they have also contributed much to the specification, including the innovative Jaga Strada ‘low H20’ high efficiency radiators. HWCH will be fitting a large underfloor heating grid on the ground floor, a 46Kw Viessmann 200 series light commercial boiler, accumulator boosted DualStream hot and cold water system, all controlled […]
Large Viessmann and underfloor heating in Woldingham
This customer was having a large extension fitted on the rear of the property, in the form of a wooden Amdega conservatory. We suggested that water based underfloor heating would be far cheaper to run, and more effective than the electric matting recommended by the conservatory builder. The old 50Kw Potterton commercial boiler was removed and replaced with a top quality Viessmann 300 49Kw system boiler with KM bus varispeed pump. The house suffered from inadequate heating in the triple aspect bedroom and lounge, and also the large number of rooms meant that heat was being wasted during the day when […]
Outdoor oil module in Caterham
Located down an unmade road, this charming property is off the beaten track as far as a mains gas supply. The old oil boiler at the rear of the kitchen had developed a catastrophic leak, so a new unit was urgently required. We suggested locating the new boiler on the rear patio, thus freeing up valuable space in the kitchen. A new Grant Vortex Eco outdoor oil boiler module was fitted. All the radiator system was dosed with anti freeze inhibitor and the outside pipework was insulated with external Armaflex. Our special extended Grant 3 year parts and labour warranty […]
New Build in Purley.
Our client, Farnrise Construction, were building a new 5 bedroom house in Coulsdon. HWCH specified and installed a full ground floor underfloor heating system, Vaillant 624 system boiler and a manifolded upstairs radiator system. This allowed the radiators to be fed by seamless pipework, making leaks under the beam and block floor almost impossible. Each floor will be independently controlled as well as each separate underfloor zone. Hot water will be provided by a Vaillant uniSTOR unvented cylinder. The property will be completed in late 2008.
Baby Viessmann in Smallfield
Our customer had a modest semi detached property in Smallfield, (near Crawley). The old floorstanding boiler was removed from the hearth in the kitchen, and a Viessmann 100W Compact heat-only condensing boiler was located some distance away in the garage. A vertical flue was fitted in the garage roof by our professional roofing contractor. The Viessmann was supplied and fitted by HWCH with our normal 5 year parts and labour warranty.
Vaillant boiler and back to school radiators
This house, in Oxted, Surrey, was in need of a new boiler. The old unit, a Potterton Kingfisher, was located in the rear of the main kitchen, and was going to be in the way of a planned refurbishment. There were very few places to fit the boiler, so we eventually settled on a restricted location near the back doorway. A Vaillant ecoTEC plus 630 High Efficiency unit was selected, as the build quality of these units is very good, and they are particulary quiet, featuring an insulated casing. The pipework had to run a long way through store cupboards etc and […]
Vaillant boiler kills bills in East Croydon
Our customer had a large detached house in East Croydon, Surrey. Their existing boiler (an old Ideal Mexico open flued unit) was located in a cupboard in one of the reception rooms, taking up lots of room and making the roof uncomfortably warm in the summer. As far as our customer was concerned, there was only one place for his new boiler, and that was the roof space. We constructed a vertical platform for the boiler and control equipment, and as per company policy we used the services of our roofing subcontractor to pass the Vaillant flue through the roof […]
